The village of Beynac rests at the edge of the Dordogne River in the heart of Southern France. At its pinnacle rests the extraordinary Chateau de Beynac, where Richard the Lionheart met his death! But one doesn't have to wait until the summit to be utterly charmed by this lovely village. The walk to the chateau had me "ooing and ahing" from taking in one story-book scene after another. My visit to Beynac was one of the highlights of my painting trip to this beautiful region of France.
