Being from Virginia, the South is where I call home. So it is a subject I naturally find myself painting again and again. The Southern landscape offers rounded mountains, beautiful springtime blossoms, winding wetlands and romantic palms. While I love to travel, I'm finding I don't have to go far to find wonderful subjects to paint.

About the Painting: Twilight is one of my favorite times of day on Outer Banks. The beach is calm and quiet, the sand is cool under your feet, and the skies are amazing. The setting for this painting is on a small point that offers sunset views on Ocracoke Island. I was intriqued by the unusual cloud formation that just obscured the sun, and the dwindling strip of brillian color just above the horizon. I hope you enjoy this painting as much as I enjoyed making it!
