Being from Virginia, the South is where I call home. So it is a subject I naturally find myself painting again and again. The Southern landscape offers rounded mountains, beautiful springtime blossoms, winding wetlands and romantic palms. While I love to travel, I'm finding I don't have to go far to find wonderful subjects to paint.

About the Painting: This painting is of an early morning scene from an excursion I made to the Blue Ridge mountains of Virginia. I woke up early for a morning summer walk and enjoyed the fog as it lifted off of the warm earth still wet with dew. As the morning progressed the sun slowly burned off the remaining moisture and made way for a clear blue sky. I hope you enjoy this piece as much as I enjoyed painting it.
