Being from Virginia, the South is where I call home. So it is a subject I naturally find myself painting again and again. The Southern landscape offers rounded mountains, beautiful springtime blossoms, winding wetlands and romantic palms. While I love to travel, I'm finding I don't have to go far to find wonderful subjects to paint.

About the Painting: This is a scene of the early morning countryside along the byways of Albemarle County in Virginia's Blue Ridge Mountains. Driving along these country roads is one of my favorite things to do in the warmer months. I never know what kind of scene I will come upon. I love to paint in this area of Virginia and do so as often as I can. In the mornings the bluebirds and goldfinches are everywhere. What a great atmosphere to get the creative juices flowing! I hope you enjoy viewing this piece as much as I enjoyed painting it!
